ABOUT US

Turning Interest Into Action

Hello Everyone!
Here at Khel Yatra, we love sports and are interested in encouraging learning through sports. We noticed that there aren’t many competitive events for the children in underprivileged schools, and hence we decided to create a sports branch, Khel Yatra, so that more people would be able to experience our passion. We want to bring out the competitive spirit in kids, discover their sporting talent, and make them smile.

In the loving memory of Jyoti Goklany (aunt, sister, best friend) who succumbed to breast cancer on December 26, 2016.

Jyoti Yatra is a registered non-profit Charitable Trust based in the Delhi NCR, India and was set up in memory of our dear friend/aunt Jyoti Goklany.

Jyoti Aunty was an extremely inspirational woman who bravely battled cancer for over 8 years. She was passionate and lively, and encouraged everyone around her to smile and be active, no matter what situation they were in. She was dedicated to improving the lives of those around her and always had a smile on her face and a joke on the tip of her tongue.

Jyoti Yatra is a charitable organization that specializes in providing impoverished youth with sporting experiences that they’ve never had before. We work with slum children and young teens who are often denied opportunities for sports and other creative ways to express themselves due to their living situations.

Whether it be football, track and field, cricket, or even swimming, I believe that each and every child should have an equal opportunity to enjoy the thrill of competing in sports.

The Jyoti Yatra NGO hosts inter school events in the name of KHEL YATRA for the underprivileged schools located in the slums. We want these kids to learn through the common language of Sports and to have healthy competition among each other. We feel that these schools do not have access to such inter school events. The idea is to expose them to and involve them in sports as its important for healthy living and personal development.

We started with the first Inter School Track Meet in April 2017 for Track and are proud to say that we have held 4 events until the year 2020, each time making it bigger and better!

Our hope is to slowly increase the number of schools involved, even get kids from different cities to make this more into a regional and national event, eventually making it the 'Olympics' for these underprivileged schools.
