KHEL YATRA
A platform for talent scouting and bringing the thrill of sports and healthy competition to the less privileged children. This event is hosted and organized by high school students of the American Embassy School, New Delhi
​
Vision: Through a series of races and brushes, the children will have an unprecedented opportunity to focus their energy into healthy competition and proudly display their skills in front of hundreds of eager onlookers. They will be given a chance to relax in a friendly atmosphere, an extremely important intervention to their normal fight for survival; and develop personal interests that allow them to have a creative or active outlet that is beneficial to themselves and their community.

This time, Khel Yatra was bigger and better...we almost doubled the number of participants and added new events like Long Jump. We had over 300 excited children aged 11-18 years from over 20 underprivileged (NGO) schools participating. Most of the children had never done a long jump before!

We raised a whopping Rs.2.46 lakhs ($3300) for this event via crowd funding on Ketto.org. We are very grateful to all our donors. We have managed to save some for the next Khel Yatra in 2021!

INTERSCHOOL TOURNAMENT

This August, we are proud to announce a 5-a-side football tournament for elementary schools across the NCR!
We had 16 underprivileged Elementary schools bring teams of 7 children to participate in a round-robin style football tournament, which was held in Gurgaon (Ansal University Sports Complex) on Sunday, 27th August 2017.Thank you to the following schools for accepting our invitation!

We missed you Prayatna SOE 1, SOE 2, and Vidya and Child but we understand the circumstances for you withdrawing due to the Ram Rahim riots on the 25th August, 2017.
The teams consisted of 7 children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old, chaperoned by 1 or 2 coaches per team. They played between 3-6 27 minute matches, depending on their success rate, and be competed for a variety of fabulous prizes.
The 1st Prize of 9 Roundtrip Trip Vistara (Tata-Singapore Airlines) tickets was awarded to nuLife NGO, unbeaten champions!
2nd Prize was Rs 4000 worth of BookMyShow tickets and was bagged by ??
The 3rd prize of Rs. 3000 coupons for Dominoes Pizza went to Divine Youth Foundation.
Last, but not the least, Saksham was awarded the trophy for best sportsmanship.

Khel Yatra is an inter school Track Meet for Underprivileged Schools (NGOs) on Sunday April 9th at the Thyagaraj Stadium. This event was a 100m dash for Middle School aged children 11-16 years old.

We also want to congratulate Saksham for placing 2nd and Diving Youth Foundation (DYF) for coming 3rd!
Saksham has won a trip to the Worlds of Wonder Water Park in NOIDA and DYF won 14 vouchers of Rs 500 each to be used at any PVR Cinema!

We had an overwhelming response to our first event of Khel Yatra on April 9th, 2017. We had 175 children from 15 schools that took part in the races with great enthusiasm. The stadium had a festive atmosphere. The whole event went very smoothly.
